geography of transparencies, 2022 (ongoing)

collaboration with poet christopher alexander kostrisky gellert

This series of photopolymer prints, integrating text from the poems She preserves and The moons is a place by Christopher Alexander Kostrisky Gellert, is part of an ongoing project which questions our relationship to the disappearance of diverse life forms as we continue to collect and preserve specimens in vitrines and cages. It is an invitation to let go of our domination of other species, to forego collection and to blur our vision. Layers of text and image are conceived as geographic strata that mediate between what is hidden beneath the earth’s surface, and the transformation of this energy as it emerges from the ground.

decaying plantscapes, 2019

EN: Decaying Plantscapes No. 13, 14 and 15, 2021

140 x 100cm each. Photopolymer prints on Thai paper of an agave plant on the Mediterranean coastline (Monaco). Printing plate developed with natural UV light. Installation with other prints, and hanging preserved cactus skeletons and agave stems.

This piece evokes the degradation of the once-natural Mediterranean landscape of Monaco, which has been transformed into a profoundly urban landscape. The image used to produce this photogravure was photographed on a cliff facing the Mediterranean sea. However, the sea cannot be distinguished in this image: nothing is left, except the traces of a decomposing landscape, with the few remains of invasive plants like the agave americana and skyscrapers.

FR : Decaying Plantscapes No. 13, 14 and 15, 2021

100 x 140cm chacun.
